Aug 2021 💝 Amelie was 18 months and this was her favorite song- “The Boo Boo Song” from Cocomelon. The song reminds me of all the love Mother’s give especially in moments of hurt. I think about my daughter naturally inclining to that same loving comfort, and I pray love continue to be passed down through the generations 💕

Amelie- you’ve been singing since you could talk- even before actually and hearing you blossom into song even more is miraculous to witness. 🥰🤩

We hear so much about probiotics and prebiotics but not as much about healthy fungi that can help foster internal communication and balance bacteria and gut health. It’s really quite fascinating to research!
I was interested in mushroom coffee but somewhat hesitant, as I tried a mushroom coffee alternative in the past and the taste was just not really my thing. @vita_guard_inc ‘s mushroom coffee is creamy, smooth, and tastes delicious, so it’s the perfect way to get in the benefits of the mushrooms while not giving up taste. Sometimes I wonder what the essence of my presence carries.
When I was an esthetician, I loved creating a space of healing, of peace.
A sort of sanctuary others could step in and find relief.
Where they could see and feel the essence of beauty belonging to them.
I miss that about my old career.
Still, I carry that essence of peace in my body, in my spirit.
I long to create and hold that for others, even in the midst of turmoil, yet being a mother has often taken my very breath.
It can be hard to carry peace with little resisters in tow.
Though I judge myself when I lose the very peace I long to give, I know reality is meant to keep us humble. To test our limits and show us the cracks of our own vulnerabilities.
Still my default is peace and for that I praise the Lord.
I reach a quiet part of day and my heart
Smiles,
or sometimes the quiet doesn’t come but l close my eyes & then I see it
already existing inside.
I think of curling up in the meadow, above the grass and under the starlight.
Right where my creator made me to be.
Bits and pieces of moving, breathing light
Being Jamie,
Being everything
Being nothing at all

I remember walking through Waikiki.
Passing overweight tourists who carried an abundance of shopping bags. They were in a place I thought I’d envy - On vacation, well fed, buying expensive purses and designer items, But I didn’t envy them. I listened to them bicker as I tried to figure out a way to slip past their slow moving legs so I could make it on time to work. And I thought to myself, “they have everything I think I need, and yet their spirits are unsettled, angry even whilst being in the most beautiful place I’ve ever seen in my life.”
And I realized… joy
is a heart matter. 💖
Walking by the place I stayed at when I first came to the island brought me right back to that feeling. I’ve lately found myself at times in similar shoes to the ones I perceived -walking around with bags, agitated at my kids for not listening or not looking around carefully as they dillydally close to the road.
This too though I know is good, to see the circles of life in your own heart, and realize none can judge.
But the lesson always stayed- and reminded me of its profoundness often,
happiness is a mindset shift.
It’s not in the stuff. Or even in the accomplishments, but in the heart expressing its willingness to be present. To look with love upon the moment and surrender to it.
I’m not saying that having “stuff” or accomplishments isn’t good, it’s great to have a purpose and vision that drives you, and lovely things that surround you, but knowing who you are - that you can find joy and peace even without it - creates a internal power that is more satisfying than jewels 💎
There was something in pressing forward, without anything, without even the expectation of attaining it that God created in me his heart. ✨💖❤️‍🔥

One of the things I love to photograph
is decay.
To see the beauty in not only the perfection of a flower, in its full blooming glory, but also
the variations through time.
This particular hibiscus was in a butterfly garden.
Though visibly eaten by young caterpillars,
it still radiated with the health of its pink color, and brightness -seeming to hold a love for its placement in the world.
May be Stockholm syndrome, to love the place that designates you as food.
May be a knowing of the giving leading to eventual receiving. Eventually hungry, sticky tubes transform to winged creatures
Who visit for nectar,
carrying the pollen,
the essence of the flower,
to areas inaccessible for rooted plants.
May be the photographer projecting her own meaning onto organisms that
simply are.
But I couldn’t help but be memorized by its beauty,
Its health
despite being eaten away.
I think of motherhood that way,
giving our petals joyfully to our children.
This flower made it look beautiful.
I wanna make it beautiful…

Perhaps it’s also protection from something you intuitively know won’t be in your best interest, and we also need to consider learning to balance rest within a work and production based society as valuable of course… but seeing the connection between avoidance and perfectionism / fear of criticism is liberating in a way that re-programs the inner child to realize it’s now strong enough, and safe enough to handle negative feedback, deal with difficult situations, and even to make mistakes publicly. Maturity in this way has the capacity to do that with a compassionate, empathetic heart that admits it cares as it’s learning and growing instead of shutting down its feelings in a “I don’t even care” type of way. Thereby conquering the external and internal avoidance and paving a new neural pathway right through the stuck areas.

I got rid of my IG art page.
Something about it felt compartmentalized.
I think I tried to piece myself out, make myself palpable in small bites. Deciphering social constructs of which platform, which page, which audience was best for which part of myself. Art in one place, spirituality in another, family yet another.
Same me, just spread thin, longing for more congruency.
I left IG & FB in general for a while, spoke more on TikTok -to strangers who became friends.
I liked it there -How it links people who have similar hearts. It felt safer somehow.
But now with the pending ban, I’m becoming excited to condense. Sort of let the whole me fall into one area more unified.

How do you put hope on a heart?
The Earth and its people know pain, of this I am certain.
We see it in the news and in the eyes of our neighbors.
In the stories of loved ones that unravel the bits of thread that once pierced them, stitch by stitch.
And then, more happens.
As if the level of pain in the world were not enough.
Yet regermination takes place deep under soil. And pain somehow connects hearts like a mycorrhizal network.
Shifting our thoughts and perspectives.
Allowing us a second longer to glance into each precious moment from some higher awareness,
an awareness that knows just how quickly it all comes, and goes.

And I think of the Earth’s pain,
But also its joy.
It’s shores that chase children playfully, and waves that lure even the dolphins.
As a child of its dust, I ponder the flowers and trees, symbiotically intertwined with us as we breathe. Together, transferring bits of spirit, exchanging molecules for molecules.
And I see that maybe the Earth doesn’t judge the wind and so I no longer ask why,
I just cry with those who cry,
and pray
for love to inspire the meeting of needs, and for hope to flood into the hearts of it’s people
like I pray for the water to quench the embers of destruction.

And I think maybe to put lasting hope in a heart, the kind that doesn’t falter at the failings of life,
you have to see the heart fully. Even one’s own.
And hold the pain of atrophied flesh, as blood and burden drips on your own hand.
But perceive
that the heart both bleeds and feeds.
So tell it the whispers of the capillaries
flushing the cells with care,
And turn it towards the of beauty of the sun, bringing life through all the Earth. And let it know how preciously loved it is by God
simply for existing.
And pray that each beat of perceiving life still has goodness, gets just a little stronger than the last.

“And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.”
