The light shines from our window, glazing the sides of our living room paintings. They are illuminated, but different. From my angled view, the vast color differentiation is not seen. I know these paintings well, Their beauty. How chaotic, crisp paint marks from my children’s hands and mine tell a story of happiness, creativity, and even the anger fueled from disorder and mess. Or ultimately joy that surpasses the infinitesimal nuances of life.

But I can not see that from this angle.

From this angle I see only bland colors. Brightness, canceling the contrast. I see texture like topography, concentrated in some areas, less in others. I see shadows of brush strokes.

The underlying areas.

The paintings have not changed. The light, only illuminating differing points. New things shown to me Unnoticed under the opacity of the colors…

I keep that in mind as I walk to face them head on. As their colors return to the vibrancy to which I am familiar. I am shown the relativity. Sometimes the light shows us what’s underneath. The curated layers reveal their components in fractionated pieces.

People are the same. Showing millesimal parts of themselves. The news of the world, is also the same.

We see from differing angles. Different perspectives that moonlight the age and place of the subcultures we belong to But the pictures, remain consistent. Layered. Each way of viewing valid. Sometimes the light has to shine in a different way for a new layer to be revealed…

Each view, one angle within many.

Togetherness gives us understanding.

As we consider other perspectives, or even parts of ourselves we can not see from our own standpoint, As we search underneath for more understanding, we must remember the bigger pictures. The spectrum of light that is from the creator, is more glorified when all of its creation is in view. Fully known.

As you search in the dark, or through the light that can blind, Let the remembrance of the color never fade. For viewing the shadows without it, Can break the heart.

And while each view has its validity, Every layer, it’s place, There are certainly ways of seeing, that are lovelier to behold.
